Cate's training and experience in the theater have influenced
her photography. She pursues the singular moment when the ordinary is heightened
and becomes dramatic.
The images that she makes are often iconic and solitary. They
evoke a sense of wonder and longing that can only be answered by another's
response.
Her painterly style combines photography with mixed media.
She begins with the photographic image and works into it with pastels, acrylic
paints, metal foils and embellishments.
Her work has been featured several times in The Pasatiempo,
the weekly arts magazine published by the Santa Fe New Mexican. She is a member
of the Santa Fe Society of Artists and the Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association.
She is an artist/partner at Artistas de Santa Fe and her work has been showcased
nationwide including Santa Fe, Seattle, Little Rock and Chicago.
