Gail Perazzini Gail Perazzini was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and grew up amid the mountains and saguaros of Tucson. She married, raised two sons and began her art career in Mexico City, where she lived for 18 years. Since 1986, she and her husband Randy have lived under the blue skies of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been a member of the Santa Fe Society of Artists since 1987. Gail always knew she would be a painter. Her formal studies include a BFA and MFA in Painting and a decade in the workshop of the late British-Mexican artist Toby Joysmith. She has earned her living as an artist since 1974, always representing herself. She relishes both the artistic freedom and the opportunity to exhibit frequently and make friends with her collectors which such a career allows. Gail exhibits in about 25 juried shows a year, from Florida to California. In 2003, she was invited to show at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy. Although she is an abstract artist at heart, some of Gail’s work presents figures or landscapes. Actually, the imagery of a painting is the least important part for her. What excites her are a sensuous surface made of rich and complex colors and textures, a composition that dances, and a suggestion of mystery, transcendence or revelation—intimations of the divine. In order to achieve this, she works spontaneously, trusting the process and letting go of intention. Gail wants her paintings to have not her life, but a life of their own. Because she loves the risk and freedom of painting, Gail makes and sells only originals on paper or canvas. Each piece is a journey flowing from years of experimentation with color, texture and form—a journey that ends by arousing your emotions and imaginations. |

"Like a life, a painting begins with an act that is more or less spontaneous, finds its way (or doesn’t) through the unknown, and ends at a point (however satisfying) that is always arbitrary.“
