I have lived in Northern New Mexico since childhood, when
my family moved to Taos. I studied with several well-known Taos artists,
and through their mentoring won a scholarship to the summer art institute at
the University of Kansas. We moved to Santa Fe in 1958, and I’ve
lived here ever since. My BA is in Management, and I was a human resources
manager for many years, but I continued to paint and study art. After
an early retirement, I’ve painted professionally since 2000. My
medium is now exclusively oil.
I’m affiliated with the Santa Fe Society of Artists,
the Santa Fe Council for the Arts, the Northern New Mexico Fine Arts and Crafts
Guild, and the Mitote Gallery in Santa Fe. I’ve shown in many
juried art festivals all over the Southwest and have received cash awards
for my art.
Having designed and built two adobe homes with my family, I have an affinity
for adobe, and many of my oil paintings depict adobe walls, houses and
the old churches in the villages of northern New Mexico. As an avid gardener,
I also love to paint gardens. Regardless of the subject matter,
my goal is always to capture in a serene manner the light that is so
unique to this area.
